In 1964 Fred Gauger, a former Oklahoma State University engineering instructor designed the University Club Apartment building located at 1722 South Carson Avenue in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The University Club was the first major building designed by a computer in the United States. The computer solved 248 simultaneous equations in 27 minutes. Without the new computer technology, it could have taken two years to design the framework of the building. The 320 foot building cost around $7 million to build and was opened in 1968 for occupancy. When the University Club first opened, it was billed as "a city within a city". This futuristic idea was behind selling the circular high-rise plan and aligning itself with high-rises found in New York City. When the building opened on November 19, 1967, the Tulsa World told the story this way:
"Tulsa beams today with a regal crown of majestic living! Jutting skyward with unique grace and beauty, University Club Tower has been formally opened for occupancy and becomes one of the nation's most unusual, elegant, and alluring urban apartment dwelling places. The $7 million dollar, 32 story building, which provides 'living in the round', stands as a graceful pinnacle of beauty, a 'living' dream....."
In 2016, the owners of the University Club embarked on a multi-million dollar renovation to restore the building to its former glory. Today, the building consists of 32 floors with 8 levels of parking and offers a 6,000 square foot state-of-the-art fitness facility with spin and yoga rooms, a resident lounge, library, catering kitchen, internet cafe, sundry shop, movie theatre and conference rooms for resident use. 2016 also brought a new, resort style swimming pool, landscaped courtyard and outdoor cabana equipped with gas grills, fireplace , lounge area and televisions for watching the big game. If the game isn't your thing, there is an outdoor movie screen to enjoy cool summer nights with friends out on the lawn under the stars.
The building offers newly renovated studio, one, two and three bedroom homes in the sky ranging from 700 to 1,900 square feet, each complete with balconies and awe-inspiring views of the Arkansas River and downtown skyline.
Come be a part of Tulsa's history. At University Club, the sky is the limit.

University Club has such a comforting and fun atmosphere! Their new staff/management is incredibly smart and always willing to help! You would be a fool not to live here too!
We had a family reunion in the community room. My family was amazed at the lovely views and the beautiful room. It was so much fun to sit in comfortable chairs and remember our childhood. Everyone kept commenting on how nice the facilities were. My cousin's wife really appreciated the refrigerator since she had some sandwiches to take home. The staff made it easy to reserve the room and put a notice on the door. Thank you University Club for the community room renovation. We have lived in the building for 48 years and really like the new openness of the room.
University Club has a great location-very easy access to Riverside Parkway, Broken Arrow Expressway, I-244, etc. I have noticed significant savings-both in time and expense in transportation! Great access to riverparks, the gathering place, etc. Wonderful location for bike riders!
